Hi I am desperate to get ds reading something a bit more exciting than adventures of biff, chip et al but I don't want to put him off with books that are too difficult. What ORT levels would you expect a child to be on to read the following 3 sets of books? The horrid Henry early readers, dinosaur cove and magic treehouse thanks in advance.

Bean I had bought the project x book set levels 1 to 4 and my son enjoyed them vastly more than the standard ORT ones. But we're now seeking something slightly more lengthy.

Can someone explain to me about bands versus levels? My DS last year in year 1 was on white/ lime towards the end reading stage 10/11. Now they've got him onto non-scheme books so I can't tell how he's doing. I looked at the chart that was referred to in an earlier message and you can get brown and grey bands for levels 10/11/12, so I'm confused!!

Also, with the ORT levels I could tell what vocab they were encouraging the DC to learn but now he's off scheme in yr 2 and some books have very complicated vocab (eg all different sorts of planes and their engines) and I don't know whether I should get DS to read the book over and over till he's got all the vocab, or whether I should go easy and just get him to read often and different types so he picks the vocab up gradually?! Confused Confused. I'm not sure what the teaching aims are for yr 2 reading. Can anyone help? TIA. Sorry if hijacked thread a bit.
