Mirror-writing

At what age would you expect a child to stop mirror-writing?

My dd stopped at the end of Reception (she mirror writes because she is left-handed).

She stopped because they are taught handwriting and joined up quite carefully. However, numbers - which she hasn't been taught to form - she still does in mirror. She is in year 2.

However, her teacher has asked her to practice doing numbers the correct way round.

I don't know what is normal - anything! But I would imagine that it's good to sort it before Juniors. However, like most things, it's best for things to resolve themselves in an organic way.

Thanks civil. DS1 is also in Year 2 but is right-handed. He mainly mirror-writes numbers but also b/ d, which is now particularly unhelpful as he gets spelling wrong when he reverses them! I am working on the numbers at home but I wondered whether b/ d would correct itself at some point.

Bump... I have the same problem with my almost 6 yo. Wondering what is 'normal' too.
