What is the Clockwork Method?

DS has been asked to write his timestables using "the clockwork method". Neither he nor I have a clue what this is. Can anyone enlighten us? :)

Thanks!

I may have this wrong, but I saw my friend's DD doing it where they wrote the number in the middle, say 5, and then at 1-12 on the clock wrote the answer, so 5,10,15 etc, and for 6 it would be 6 where 1 should be, 12 where 2 etc
Does that make sense?

Thanks DTG. No excuses now for not doing his homework tomorrow morning!

if you google combinations of 'times tables' + 'clock' there are some similar descriptions and blank worksheets

There's also a great iPhone game called xtable clock for practising them.

CloudsAway & IndigoBell - thanks for these suggestions. I am sure the i-phone app will be EXTREMELY appealing. I can just about get DS to do anything if it involves gadgetry Grin

ooh. I've never heard of this method but I'm going to write it down (I have a file where I note down teaching ideas as I'm hoping to be a primary teacher)

and I just got an iphone so I'll download that app, I'm sure my DSDs will like playing it!
