Is this the slowest start to the year ever..?

Its now week three at my child's school. She is in year one and we haven't been given anything by the school, re reading books- apparently allocating them alphabetically; any homework or outline of the school year etc.. This doesn't appear normal, and should I complain- (I'm scared it will put the back up of the new teacher).

It's the same for my DS - except he is in year 4!

Forgot to mention my DS too actually- same school, year 6.

I think it takes any enthusiasm/motivation to the start of the year away. We apparently start year 6's homework after the 30th September when we have our parents evening.

We're in week 3 of year 3 and have had nothing so far, but are having a meeting tomorrow afternoon.

Start of yr 3 - had reading books from Day 1 and received homework from 14th Sept.

We're also in week three. DS has brought home 7 reading books so far, lots of letters and we have an appointment with the teacher to discuss his progress on 6th October.

Mine went back on September 2nd. All three (Reception, Yr2 and Yr 3) brought home homework on September 3rd.

We got books for guided reading this week - they had been doing assessments until then, apparently. We did have an outline of the year's themes at the very start too. Group meeting with y1 teacher end of this week.

Started back on the 2nd (dd Y1), had reading books from the start as they kept a few in book bags for over the summer and just continued on from there, had info eve the following week with homework (very small amount) the Thursday (so 7 days after school started). They are starting quite slow, homework picks up a bit from half term with spellings as well.
