Ofstead are coming much earlier than the school expected what does this mean

nothing, they can appear whenever - they may just be running ahead of schedule.

What grade did the school get at their previous inspection - if they got lower or the same as last time they will be inspected again within three years.

They turn up when they want to, and with very little notice. In the old days, you'd know quite far in advance. We've got them in tomorrow, but were only told on Friday.

well yes they do come when they want, but there is usually a timeframe when they are expected.

Our school was inspected this year, and we'd been expecting them from about March even though the inspection was due in July.

It would be unlikely, for instance, for them to have visited last year when they'd been just two years previous, which is why I asked how early is early...
