My ds is nearly 6 and just started year 1. He has managed really well with reading but he has just got to a stage where his reading is good enough to manage most books, but his comprehension is not there yet due to his age.
He enjoys reading but we are struggling to find appropriate books. Any recommendations would be greatly received.

The younger Roald Dahls - like The Twits, and The Giraffe The Pelly and Me - went down well with DS1 who is six next month. Also Horrid Henry, if you can stomach it. Astrasaurs. He also really likes the Ahlberg Happy Families books, which he can manage himself quite well. I got a pack of 20 on The Book People for not very much £.
