Our school is starting Forest School for Reception. I think it sounds absolutely bloody fantastic and DD is beside herself with excitement about it.

Once a week, all weathers barring a gale or thunder and lightning, they are going to get dressed up warm and venture out. What an amazing thing to be able to do.

My older DS is seriously seriously Envy.

I struggle to find any downside with it. Apart from the extra laundry of course! Grin

I think foreset schols sound really good.

The nursery where I work is not a forest school but we are making strides to use the outdoors much more, whatever the weather.

Yesterday when I went into work, all the toddlers were dressed in wet weather gear and went to play in the woodland area. They had a great time.

I think we will see many more schools taking the classroom outside over the next few years

Hurrah! Ds2's nursery have access to a private wood and all the pre-school children go for a day a week in 4-week blocks. ds1 went last year and he LOVED it. Ds2 has rather drawn the short straw - his block is in January (we're in Scotland)...so hoping next Jan is not like this Jan was. Sad

Lucky your DD! Ds had Forest School sessions at his nursery and it was marvellous. DD is still jealous that they didn't do it when she was there. Your dd will have a wonderful time!
