Do they learn what charges were brought against Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard? Might seem like a silly question but I wondered if they discuss adultery and incest with 8-9 year olds. DD1 has been talking at length about the six wives and the beheadings but I haven't been able to ask her that particular question [total wuss icon].

We discuss having boyfriends whilst being married, and look at the age and health differences between Henry and Catherine Howard.
Very skimmed over, the focus of the unit is change in society so we look at the Henry/Katherine church split more.

actually, ditto what Goblin said.

Oh, I guess the teacher does that unit very fast then, before the children can think up too many questions? Grin. Not only the adultery and incest but also the validity of Henry's marriage to Kath of Aragon depending on the non-consummation of her marriage to his brother. I can imagine a lot of confused faces and raised hands :).

Thanks for the replies.

Horrible Histories covered this with a jester sketch and a song. They referred to their having boyfriends and that making the King cross.

Oh you could tell them about the deformed foetus as well.... better not Grin

Mine are older, so I can talk about all this. I seem to remember saying that Henry 'got bored' with them, ahem.
