I know I'm a bit early with this one but remember last year being exhausted sewing a very last minute costume, thought I'd be prepared this year for the inevitable "come dressed as a fruit or veg day" in October. ?Remember last year there were some great ideas for this, all of which I read too late, so wondered if anyone would mind sharing their ideas for very very simple/ easy but effective costumes! Many thanks!

Runner bean - pe kit plus a cardboard cutout bean pinned onto the t-shirt.

Never heard of this one myself, though! (Runner bean idea comes from a group dressed as 'five a day' from the local carnival.)

To be honest lots of my dd's SCHOOL dressing up outfits consist of leggings and t shirt in an expected colour and then a tabard over the top giving the detail.
So for dress as a fruit and veg I'd have green leggings and t shirt and then on two pieces of stiff card paint and cut out an apple.Use broad tape at the shoulders and staple to card and pop over head.
Pretty much any topic can be covered like that. For book week I sewed lots of fish onto leggings and long sleeved t shirt. Then did a cardboard cut out of Tiddler the story telling fish that dd stuck scales onto.
Dd likes to have some input and I don't like sewing or have much time.
