as title suggests really! posted in preschool and primary as both applies

My daughter is only 18 months but me and hubby are trying to come to a big decision about moving house. We want to only move once or not at all before nursery or school so thats why i am looking into nursery and schools now.

We live in a bit of a rough area and were considering moving but then when i looked at our local school (and nursery) it has outstanding report with ofsted.

What else do i need to consider?

Go and look round the school and see what feel you get - then you'll be able to tell whether you think it'll be right for your dd.

We live equidistant between 2 good schools. On paper there wasn't much between them, but once I'd looked round them I had a definite preference. Different people want different things so I think the only way to tell if it is right for you is to go and visit.

god i wish we lived near an outstanding school... but i second runoutofideas, you really need to look around the school and get a feel for whether you like it or not. one of my 'good' rated local primaries felt like a prison to me, very dark and dingy and miserable, whereas other schools i felt comfortable in straightaway

Thanks guys, will i be able to look round it though with my daughter being so young they will think i am crazy!

I know it sounds daft but what do i look for?

Things can change quite rapidly regarding standards at a primary school. Be sure, when the time comes, to google the school and the head and ask existing parents of their opinions regardless of OFSTED ranking before making your choice.

Best of luck.
