Any ideas based on the topic of ourselves? To cover the wall until we have something new? For a pre school room/children

Digital photo of each face, kids to draw body. Bubble with a quotation from each "My favourite toy/colour/food/activity is....", perhaps a cut out picture of something

Obvious one is big bright paintings on themselves and a little sentence underneath saying, 'my name is Claire and I like cucumber' or something. A slight variation is painting the person opposite them with a sentence saying, 'I have painted Claire. She has yellow hair.'

A large pictogram showing hair colour/eye colour/how they travel to school. They can each draw a small picture of themselves to stick in the correct bit or use photos.

If you've got lots of space to fill, each child can have a sheet of A3. Split sheet into quarters. Put a photo or small picture in the middle. One section fav food, another family, another fav activities etc. They can either draw/paint these or a good alternative is a collage from magazines. Food mags and toy shop catalogues are good. They could bring photos of family in for the family section. If you go with glossy collage and family phots these look really effective.

In reception children were asked to make a time line with photos of themselves, from birth to present. School sent home apiece of coloured card and directions. Most people have digital cameras and printers, so very quickly a brilliant display was created.

Or you could ask them to paint a self portrait, but remember to have paint in different shades of skin tone available.

Could you put up a display about the staff (Ourselves) with blown up pictures as a baby a child and an adult ad a little information about what each person likes - favourite colour food etc colour of eyes and hair have they got a pet type thing and replace it with pictures of the children once they are in and settled

or pictures of lots of different faces, or even face parts, or whole people - with a ' we are all the same we are all different' type heading and name labels of features which you can then replace with the childrens work later?
