I'm in shock £70 for boots for school

DD has custom made insoles so they take up some of the depth round the heel so shoes are no good as they slip on her heels. So we looked at boots instead. Found a really nice pair of kickers after trying two sizes putting an extra insole in got the right fit. Was just about to pay and I asked the price. £70 I'm glad I was sitting down.

Is it just me or is that just silly money for school boots.

I suppose it depends on ehat size she is. I mean if she's in adult sizes then although it's a lot of money, it doesn't seem extorniate{sp?)

I might consider paying that because DD (8yo) uses them for horse riding too, and they are so much better than ordinary school shoes if you walk 1/2 mile each way every day thru very wet and snow (we had a lot of snow last winter). Also, DD's shoes last for ages (her feet are way behind the rest of her).

That's the thing dd tall but only size 2 feet (might had to go up to size 3). Kickers go up to size 5 for children and adult start at size 3 and I think the big problem they tried selling me the adult size.

You can get them cheaper than that if you shop around, but not much.

DD has had kickers for the past 3 years, the shoes that are the same style as the boots. They are the only shoes that last her the whole year as she tends to wear the soles down very quickly.

I have done just that and found some on amazon for £39.99 only different is the pink stitching and laces instead of black.

Still can't believe they were happy to sell me adult boot and not even think to let me know about the high price. People must pay that much for their children's boots or they would not be selling them but really it day light robbery.

my dd has custom made insoles for flat feet and we've just got her school shoes from clarks. it took trying on about 10 pairs to find a pair that fitted, and accommodated the insoles. dd measured a 2.5e, but we bought a 3f in this shoe as one thing i noticed when she was trying shoes on, was this style held her foot in the shoe much better as it's got 2 straps instead of just 1.

i feel your pain, we've only just got the insoles and i was dreading school shoe fitting. was going to give up and just send her in trainers. luckily dd's school are ok with that, as inside they wear indoor shoes, and they need trainers in school anyway as they do a lot outside.

really cheeky of them to try and sell you the adult shoe for a child . i'm a size 4 and even i buy from the kids range!

I solved the impossible problem of getting shoes for dd by gettign them hand made - £58.

WHen is the right time to get the insoles? From which age?

don't know, dd is 8 and just got them but should have had them years ago really. i guess as soon as you notice there's a problem with their feet. dd has very flat feet, and walks with them turning inwards at the heel, but out towards the toes. it's putting a lot of strain on her ankles. hoping the supports will helps.

I feel your pain! Just bought my son his first pair of school shoes (he starts P1 tomorrow!) and paid £60 for them!!! He is a 'D' width and alot of brands don't even go that narrow. Of those that do - alot of them are still too wide for him and also too deep as he has really shallow feet too. We tried 3 shops before we could even get a pair to fit him and in the 3rd and final shop they had 2 pairs which were OK. One was £45, but had no grip on the bottom and as we live in the country in NE Scotland where we get a lot of ice and snow in winter they weren't really suitable. The other pair were £57 (plus £2 for insoles) but are fully waterproof, have a really good grip and actually stay on his feet! It is absolutely extortionate - particularly as he is only 5, but we had no other choice!

Insoles. In dd case she started to have ankle pains age 6 took her to the doctor nearly 7. Was told dd had inward rolling feet and to get her good supportive shoe. Things slowly got worse more ankle pains then knee pains and final the last straw for me hip pains. Went back to the doctor. First dd had off the shelve insole which helped things a bit but now she's got custom made ones.

If your child is having problem get their feet seen to as every one whose seem dd feet are really surprised that they had not seen her sooner.

My younger one, who is almost two, has intoeing on his left foot. It looks like he cannot flatten his foot completely but only if he is not wearing shoes. It is written that it can go by itself but might also not.
I myself cannot wear very flat shoes either.

Regarding the prices: kids shoes are very expensive especially at Clarks. That is why we try them (any brand) in store and then look for a good price on line.

If you or anyone else with "odd" shaped kids feet is in Devon.... Chuckles Shoes of Exeter make shoes to fit the child. DSs school shoes cost about £45 and have lasted nearly a year so far, just had them re-heeled and stretched and they should do him fine till he grows another size.

Hes a K width fitting , with very wide toes. Clarks just don't make shoes his shape.
