Was anyone whose child has just finished Yr 2 NOT told their NC levels?

DS1 has just finished Yr2. We had reports (his was good so its not that much of a worry), but there was no mention of NC Levels.

We are in Wales so they didn't sit SATS, I assumed that because of this the levels weren't reported. But I have subsequently found out (from MN and Google) that they should have been.

AFAIK nobody in his class was told their levels.

Has anyone else had this? Should I just ask his old teacher when they go back to school?

I don't teach in Wales, but have found the document which sets out the statutory requirements in Wales for 2010 here.

You are right, you should have been given the results, although it seems they would only be very broad level judgements (1, 2 or 3 - not 2c, 2b, 2a, etc).

I would ask the Head why these were not reported - did you receive a school report at all? Very strange.

Thanks Feenie, that is the same document which I found when I did some googling after it being mentioned on here that we should have had them.

We did have a school report, but it was entirely narrative. There was no mention of levels at all.

It is a small school, and his teacher last year was the deputy head.

I know that he is doing well in comparison with the other chidlren in his class, but I would like to know in the context of national levels. The school isn't performing fantastically, and I know that a disproportionate number of children from the school go into lower sets and need extra help when they go up to secondary.

It's a legal requirement, they can't not report them.

I know. Which makes you wonder what else they aren't doing but should be...
