How do we search for the best schools in our area?

Hi, just wondering if anyone has any top tips for finding the best schools in our area - Wandsworth. Baby is only 10 months but we are about to move and I'm really scared of moving close to a rubbish school - I've heard there are some bad ones around here. No idea how to find out info other than the council website - any ideas?

I think the euphemism is "popular" schools, thus avoiding the possible minefield of value judgements + school "choice".

The most "popular" school in Wandsworth is Honeywell. Which is almost a legend. It was, I think, the template for all those schools that people lie, cheat, and steal to get into.

Belleville is currently contentious, owing to plans to build a satellite school in a colony across the Common.

Then there are faith schools. If you look at the KS2 premier league stat, you should get an idea of "popularity".

Macauley is C of E and friendly.

they are all in clapham.

All of the above is hearsay. so if any of that has offended, I will hastily say that it was a little tongue in cheek at points.

Not in Wandsworth but not hearsay ... my dh visited Singlegate and though it was wonderful, amazing, (insert superlative of choice).

And there are lots of others. I don't know about "rubbish", i think a lot of schools in Wandsworth are pretty good, actually.

Where are you thinking of moving to.

Sorry, just noticed. Two of the most "popular" faith schools are actually in Tooting.

Ravenstone is "popular", and in Balham. Again, haven't visited.

Anybody knows about Chesterton? In Battersea? Or any good primary school in Battersea?

Was also wondering about Chesterton Primary in Battersea. It seems to get very good results but anyone living within 1.8 km who applied got in to reception so it does not seem 'popular' for some reason.
