Is it ok to use hemming tape for trousers?

I have found this John Lewis Value Iron-On Hemming Tape and thought may be I should buy it as my son's trousers are too long for him. I hope it will save my time as I have not got a sewing machine. But I am not sure whether I could take the tape off to make them longer.

Is this like Wundaweb?

Of course it is OK to use it. It's also OK to hand-sew hems, but not really to use a machine unless it has a proper hemming stitch.

I understand that I have to put it where I want to hem and then iron so the two sides would stick together. I have no idea whether I will need to sew on the top of it. Have no experience in using this tape.

The tape is good and easy to use but after a few dozen washes you may find it starts to hold less well. I have ended up putting a couple of holding stitches in each side as well just to be sure. Much easier than hemming the whole thing.

what the hell is hemming tape

Hemming tape is a wonderful invention! I can't sew/hate sewing and it just goes between the seams of the hem and you put the iron on it for a fews secs and voila! all done, not a needle or thread in sight

I've never tried it on their school trousers but the iron on tape works well on their cricket trousers. I'm sure it would work OK.

The tape I bought at John Lewish is rubbish so and the iron on labels. I will have to take a needle this evening and hem the trousers. The material is quite hard so I guess the job is not going to be easy.
