Similar but cheaper than reading chest?

Basically the title says it all!! I like the idea of Reading Chest but I think it's overpriced! Anyone know of a similar scheme that doesn't cost as much? Obviously the library but ours is small and it's very difficult trying to pick the correct level.

You can use Reading Chest to find out the titles and then order them from the library. What scheme/type of book were you interested in?

We've had good experience using our library service to get Usborne First Readers series. They are NC colour banded so you can get the right level (cross refer using Reading Chest). Not a phonic scheme but very good stories, readily available in libraries.

I chose it because it was free and stuck with it because it was good.

Hi, not too worried about the scheme...probably avoid ORT as she does that in school. She is on stage 6 orange band.
Sounds like a good plan.
Thanks
