another quick phonics question - mix and match?

just starting to (very very slowly) introduce letter sounds to my just-3yo DD (initiated by her BTW).

just wondering if it's ok to mix and match different schemes? I can't see us doing blending for ages so if I'm just doing letters does it matter? there's such a great range of resources available so I'd love to use loads of them but I don't want to confuse her.

You're overthinking it, IMO

Just read to her, and point things out if she's interested. Don't worry too much about the order or the reading scheme or anything. Just immerse her in a world of books and words and letters and engage in it with her.

I do understand where you're coming from. I was the same with my DD1. But she played on starfall, and cbeebies, and did different sticker books and things and she's managed to learn. And, of course, younger siblings can't help but be exposed to all sorts of different ways of learning letters.

A good school would stick to one scheme but if you do what ahs already been suggested on here then you'll be doing the right thing. Phonics is all about teaching letter sounds, all the schemes do is give the teachers a framework within which to teach it.

I don't think you need a scheme for a just 3 YO child especially if you think she isn't going to be blending for ages.
