Well ours was scored out of 117 ( 13 assessments all out of 9) and 78 was considered average. I think 6/9 is what they expect for a move to year 1. Shouldn't be many 9's cos' they are so bright they will be following a different curriculum.

Sounds lime your DC got a great report and ready for Year 1 so get their treat lined up.

I think you should take a look at this link as there is a booklet that you can download and look at that explains the profile.

I would not go comparing your son to anyone else as at this stage at all. The way in which he develops his skills will be at his own pace and he will most likely have a spikey profile, with some areas he is really confident in and some he is still mastering.

here is how the points are scored

A score is calculated for each of the 13 individual scales in the following way:
Scale points
1?3
If a child attains scale points 1, 2 or 3, their score is recorded
accordingly as 1, 2 or 3 scale points.

Scale points
4?8
A child can attain up to five scale points in this grouping.
For each scale point achieved, 1 is added to the base score of 3
(carried over from scale points 1?3 above) to give a total score.
For example, if a child attained scale point 4, scale point 6 and scale
point 8 on a particular scale, he or she would add 3 to their base score
of 3 to create a total score of 6.

Scale point
9
A child attaining scale point 9 will have attained all scale points 1?8 on
a particular scale and their total score will be recorded as 9 points.

Have you had a chance to talk through the report with the teacher?

i know i shouldnt compare my boy to others but i cant help wondering what others in his class scored, and if his score is high or low,or if everyone got around the same?!
we have had lots of problems in the last year with him, with us been called into the school lots of times because he couldnt concentrate, share, etc, even adhd was mentioned, which we had him assessed for asap and it was ruled out, thank goodness,so after all that i was expecting a bad report!so 89 is ok?he is 6 in oct.
