What do the 'teacher assessed levels' numbers on the bottom of the primary school reports mean? Next to reading it says 2a, writing 2c and Maths 1a. There is no explanation of what these mean at all. Can anyone help? She's in year 1

You can tell it's report time, there are hundreds of threads here asking what a level x is meant to mean!

The levels show the progress your child is making. An "average " child ( heaven help anyone who thinks children are ever average!)is expected to be working at around level 1a/b at the end of year 1 ( schools vary slightly as to the precise level!) So your child is working at well above average for reading, above average for writing and average/just above average for maths
