ds will be in a mixed Y3/4 class of 34 in September. He will be Y3. This seems a lot to me, any comments?

In KS2 there are no limits on amount of children (or at least the infant class size of 30 isn't there).

I think having that many children in a KS2 class happen quite often

There is technically no upper limit to class size after Y2. 34 doesn't seem an unusual number of children

33 at our school. Usually our KS2 classes are around 31-34.
This is because there is no restriction in class sizes at KS2 so schools have little grounds from which to defend an appeal in KS2. It's not ideal but as the children are more independent that those in KS1 it generally works out fine.

I'm sure. Big difference to 23 in reception and probably no more than 26 in Y1 and Y2 though. Even the teacher looked as if she wished I hadn't asked, which she probably did come to think of it.

We always find that once the limit no longer applies we get an influx of pupils we can't refuse

is that good or bad?

It's neither good nor bad most children and teachers just accept it and get on with things no problem.
