Hi all
Sorry to resurrect/hijack this thread but wanted to talk to some of you 'East city' people!!! I was brought up in Olivers Battery and went to OB schol then Kings and Peter Symonds. Have since lived in London and have now made my way back and have been living in suburban Romsey the last 3.5 years. DH and I have decided its time to move back to Winchester as both love it DH works there and have childcare there in form of my fab dad! Also wnat to live walking distance again to shops/parks/pizza express etc!!!
Have seen two properties we are interested in, one in East City/Highcliffe. Historically back when I was young I know Highcliffe had a bad reputation but I actually really like the victorian streets there and think its in a great location. So can any of you guys help me out a bit.....intersting to read this thread re: a 3 bed for 250k ish back in Dec 2009 and how some locals (Anner etc) reckoned in Highcliffe you may get something along those lines/budget.
Anyways we have seen this property; currently 2 bed with upstairs bathroom, but potential top convert loft (we think) has been lived in by same owner for decades is very clean but incredibly dark and dated and needs total redecoration and quite a bit of renovation work. Its on market at 295,000 which seems a bit steep considering amount to do and things I have read on this thread/elsewhere and the zoopla/mouseprice indices online. This is well over our budget and we were hoping to buy for 250-270k really. 278k is our top top budget. What do you think ladies? What should our tactics/evidence be for low
offers? Would really appreciate your advice. Oh and All Saints, still a fabby ittle school? Thanks so so much
