KS2 levels and confidence

My son is in Y4.

He finished Y2 with at 2A in most subjects, Y3 with secure 3C/low 3B and has finished Y4 as a secure 4B/low 4A.

I've read on here a few times that 2 sublevels is considered good progress but he's seemed to have gone up a lot more than that.I really don't think that he's working any harder than last year but he's become very confident and outgoing.

What I want to know is do you think it's his confidence that has made his grades go up so much or is there very little difference between sublevels that 2 different teachers wouldn't assess him at the same grade?

Kids are not robots and they develop in fits and plateaus; some years are great and other years they make little progress.

He has grown in confidence, and probably maturity, and he could have received excellent teaching!
