Teenage boy - trainers!

I have a nearly 12yo nephew. He’s into football, gaming… In no way alternative. Wants to fit in. Very much likes to follow his friends all of whom have ’cool’ older brothers. I’ve been asked whether I can buy him ‘some trainers’ for Christmas. Any suggestions?! I have older daughters who live in second hand doc martens!!

New Balance on all the DC around here (but they’re all also cricket mad so that may affect it!).

All DD’s gang are wearing New Balance 530z. 9060 seem popular too. But they are girls so not sure if something else is in with boys.

Do his parents not have any ideas what brand/model is in? if not, maybe get some from a fairly mainstream shop (like JD sports or Schuh) with a gift receipt and then he can swap if not right?

Mine wear new balance or Nike p-6000.

Are you loaded? You're going to need at least £70 if he's got little feet.

Boys round here all wear Nike 95 or On Cloud.
My cousin's kids in another part of the country wear NB.

It's regional and tribal so I'd just ask what type he likes.
