Ear piercing for girl with very sensitive skin

Hello - DD 12 is determined to get her ears pierced before school starts again in September. However, she has very sensitive skin and I am worried her ears will react badly/get infected etc. (FWIW I'd much prefer her to not have her ears pieced at all - mine aren't - but it's her body and her choice.)

Where should I take her where they will have good aftercare and a hygienic experience? I'm in SW London so anywhere in central London would be OK. I've been looking at Astrid and Miyu but it's £££

Any decent piercing studio where they use needles and will pierce with either titanium (cheaper), platinum (pricy) or gold (pricier).

Surgical steel isn't always the kindest to skin but is the cheapest.

Avoid anywhere using guns (Claires Accessories, hairdressers etc) and ensure they use flat back studs which won't irritate the back of her ears.

My dd has very sensitive skin as well. We had hers pierced and for a whole year the wouldn't heal despite trying every variety of hypoallergenic metal and all sorts of potions. We switched to cheap plastic studs from amazon and they healed instantly, once healed she can now wear metals for a day or two with no ill effects.

FWIW I'd much prefer her to not have her ears pieced at all - mine aren't - but it's her body and her choice.

When older that applies but at 12 I don’t think it does.

Your research needs to start locally.

look for:

experienced piercist who only uses needles
implant grade titanium jewellery as standard
only recommends something like neilmed piercing solution for cleaning
tells you it’ll take 4-6 months to heal
recommends a downsize in 6-8 weeks
tells you to only clean twice a day maximum
tells you not to touch them except for cleaning
tells you to dry with something like kitchen roll
tells you to avoid swimming / bed with wet hair / try not to sleep on them

I have two piercing studios I’d recommend but I’m in Essex so a bit far for you.
