what is a "pre-teen"?

saw some threads about 9, 8, and even 7 year olds recently. i always assumed it was double digits.

11 and 12. 7-8 is an infant school / young junior school child.

I Would personally class 11+ as preteen.

Basically when they hit secondary school.

makes sense, nine year olds aren't exactly "pre-teens" but i can see why they're sometimes considered to be

Its pretty much when the hormones and eye rolling starts to kick in.

11 and 12 definitely. 10 if you are unlucky.

've seen people on here refer to their 11/12 year olds as teens so I'm not surprised.

People are stupid.

It's when puberty kicks in. A 10 year old girl who's periods have started is likely to manifest different behaviours to a 10 yr old who hasn't.

That's why it's a difficult age. People expect a 10 year old to still be playing like a child but in my experience with dd, it was the first thing that changed hugely.
She became self conscious almost overnight. She still hangs out with her friends and messes around but it's hugely different.
