Hair down there at pre- teen
Oldhorse · 08/06/2022 12:53
My 11 old daughter now has hair down there and I’m not sure whether she should shave etc..
I can’t absolutely remember what I did when I was her age, probably did not have hair at 11 as my periods started well onto my 13 years and these days girls seem to be developing quicker than 35 years ago.
She has no hair on her legs or arms , tiny bit under armpit which can be gently shave off but a full bush down there.
She is having a swimming lessons now in school to catch up from year 4 and I and she dont want boys or other kids etc noticing it sticking out of her swimsuit.
Shall she leave it or what to do? I’m fully aware once you start shaving you have to shave regularly on.

Leave it up to her - but offer to buy swim shorts to deal with the swimming issue.
i was the same and felt much more comfortable in the short type bikini bottoms.
dementedpixie · 08/06/2022 13:04
I find it sad that the first thought is to shave it. She could trim the edges if it is visible in swimwear but doesn't mean it needs totally removing.
I have never shaved mine but will trim to keep it tidy
ChuckMater · 08/06/2022 13:05
I remember my mum saying she recommended shaving the edges before holidays/swimming. It was very subtle and left it up to me. Maybe just give her your recommendation then leave it to her to decide
skgnome · 08/06/2022 13:07
i had to teach my 11yo to trim it
her request, I never even mentioned it
sh me came out of the shower one day and she asked if she could cut it since she felt it poking out
i like to trim mine, so I showed her how
a kids swimsuit would not need a shave or wax, maybe a trim, if any
Oldhorse · 08/06/2022 13:34
Thank you.
as I said I’m not sure how to deal with it, I though to shave it is wrong as she is too young….I will ask her if she wants to trim it.
drspouse · 08/06/2022 13:39
If she doesn't want people to see it why not get her a swimsuit with shorts rather than a high leg cut?
I looked for a UV suit for DD (who is 8) and it was v hard to find this (honestly, why would an 8 year old want high leg?) but Decathlon had some.
drspouse · 08/06/2022 13:40
(I think it is desperately sad that a child would shave pubic hair, by the way. I am in my 50s and I've never even trimmed mine).
Oldhorse · 08/06/2022 17:12
Well my daughter came back from swimming at school and said that she was the only one un shaved. She said she felt really out as all her friend were ..
im shocked by it as she is only 11 and in primary school, however she said even her best friend told her she shaves weekly..

Ok well this is 100% a weirdo fishing for detailed responses back!
Why would you be posting this private question on a public forum with total strangers? Absolutely not the one.
Why are people replying earnestly to this clear fuckery fgs
ChewOnAPickle · 08/06/2022 17:23
You can buy "boy leg" swimming costumes if she wants to do that rather than any bikini line trimming. They are shorts at the bottom rather than regular costumes. Like this

Not even the bits that stick out the side of your swimming costume?
Mine is well down my inner thighs without shaving so I always think women who've never shaved mustn't be as hairy as me!

Not necessarily, who else are you going to ask?
I've had questions about my dd I've wanted to ask advice about but haven't because its absolutely guaranteed someone would accuse me of being a pervert.
Sometimes you just want advice!

Thats not true. Most girls that age won't have much to shave. They just want to sound grown up.
Oldhorse · 08/06/2022 18:34
@MichaelAndEagle how dare you say something like that?
I have no friends to ask and I can hardly ask something like that at the schoolgates!
I don’t know what is IN now.
I’m 48 years old and I don’t want my daughter to be embarrassed.
I don’t remember when I had my own hair growing , I definitely wasn’t 11 year old- probably 13-14 so it wasn’t that bad and also I remember I started shaving apprx around 16 /17 yrs when I started dating a first boyfriend .
If someone is weirdo it’s you even think something like that!

@MichaelAndEagle I’m sorry I meant the reply to that rude person as above- not to you.
thank you. Yes I got nobody to ask really .
No friends has daughters has a boys and I can’t ask questions like this outside the schoolgates so I thought I would ask you here.
Sadly it is impossible to ask for advice as being called a weirdo.
Oldhorse · 08/06/2022 18:47
@TheWayoftheLeaf thank you.
yeah I believe it too.
Her best friend probably wants to look grown up .
