How come everyone knows the weight and height of their 12 year old Confused?

Did you measure them especially when you saw the thread, or do you regularly measure them?

Mine is about up to my nose (I am 165cm), and I would not have a clue about weight - though I had an "underweight" letter when they did the weighing in y6 - she has grown a lot since then though.

She had to be measured for a ballet costume (so I knew her height) and she found some working scales at granny’s house (we’re bubbled) and weighed herself out of interest, and then told me. It was handy, actually, as I was able to check her bmi, which I like to do every year or so.

I know my daughter's height because we were checking if she still needed a booster seat recently. Weight is approximate - she's weighed annually at the doctor's for her asthma review and I added a kilo or two as it was a while ago. I'm not policing my kids' heights and weights and I imagine (hope) no one else is either.

My DD is petite (as are all the women in DH's family) & I like to know that she's gaining weight & growing taller steadily for peace of mind.

Also I buy clothes online based on height for all my DC.

GreyishDays · 07/08/2020 17:44

I measure all of mine every few months and put them on our height charts.
DD used to have lots of medical appointments so I knew then. I think of some ruse to weigh her now, about every year as I’m really conscious that I wouldn’t necessarily be able to tell if she was over or underweight.

Last one was, ooh new scales. Before that, are you and brother now too heavy for the double swing?

159cm and 52kg. Almost 13.
152cm and 44.8kg. 11.4.

Elouera · 07/08/2020 18:01

I recall my own measurements at that age:
age 11 160cm 60kg
age 12 166cm 66kg
age 13 168cm 70kg- and never grew any taller!

RandomTree · 07/08/2020 19:07

Another tall one here!

My 12yo DD is 5'7" and weighs 7st 5lb.

xyzandabc · 07/08/2020 19:13

DD is 13 now but was last weighed and measured in Feb, she was still 12 then and we needed info to fit skis.

She was 155cm and 33kg. She's always been underweight, is just naturally very skinny.

Frenchic · 07/08/2020 19:15

5ft 2inches and about 6 stone.
Fairly average height, but she’s always been slim.

Rockbird · 07/08/2020 19:27

Mine is about 5'1 and no idea about weight. She's pretty chunky though and for that reason I refuse to get the scales out. We're working on getting fitter not getting slimmer.
