Just that,
I know the ‘recommended’ guidelines but just wondering what time others go to bed.
My DC age 10 currently gets into bed at 8pm but then has quiet time/reads/doodles etc until about 8.45pm
Finding it a struggle to get them up in the morning some days but an earlier bedtime would put him in line with my younger DC and obviously that can’t happen Hmm

My 11yr old is same as yours - 8pm bedtime (or as close as - I'm still bedtime reading with all 3 DC) then lights out 9pm. No issues waking up, usually about 6:30/7am on his own

Spied · 24/02/2020 18:02

9 light out.
DC 8&10.
Up 7:15

Can be quite late for my 9 near 10 year old. Bit of a night owl!

Redlocks28 · 25/02/2020 22:01

Mine is 11, nearly 12 and goes up at 9.15.

jackstini · 25/02/2020 22:04

Dd 13, in bed 9, lights out 9.30
Ds 11, in bed 8.30, lights out 9

myplateisfullenoughthanks · 25/02/2020 22:06

11 and bed for 9. We try for in bed by 8.45 and lights off for 9 but its rarer and rarer

sausagefingersH · 25/02/2020 22:07

11nearly 12 year old lights off at 9:30

TheLongDarkBreakfastTime · 25/02/2020 22:08

11yo lights out at 8.30 on a school night, 9.00 in the holidays.

She has to get up at 6.30 for school, so it’s based on the NHS recommendation on the number of hours she needs at her age (9.5) plus half an hour settling down time, counted back.

jackparlabane · 25/02/2020 22:10

8 and 11. Upstairs to brush teeth round 8, in bed after stories/chat by 9. Claim to be tired on weekday mornings at 7.15 but no problem on weekends.

Dc1 has always needed lots of sleep and insisted on going up when dc2 goes. Getting dc2 to bed can be a right pain though!

Xmasfairy86 · 25/02/2020 22:11

Tech (phone/tablets) go off at 8pm, tv/books/ meant to be quiet/chill time until 8:30, more like 9pm by the time they’ve finished divving around!!
8 and 11

MeMeMeYou · 25/02/2020 22:13

12yo is a pain. Phone downstairs from 8.30. Bed 9.30. Wanders, mooches and avoids going to sleep for ages! Often awake reading and pottering when I go up a 10-11pm

AnneOfTeenFables · 25/02/2020 22:15

11 yr old is in bed by 8.30pm then we read till about 9pm.

SquashedFlyBiscuit · 25/02/2020 22:16

Wow I might need to rethink things i have an 8 and an 11.

We do "tv off/finish activity" at 7.30 then teeth etc. Lights off for 8 year old at 8, and 11 year old at 8.30.

DrCoconut · 25/02/2020 22:51

My DC are natural owls and don't settle early. I'm often ready for sleep before they are 😂. I never had a bedtime as a child, I just went according to what we were doing and how tired everyone was. I guess I'm a bit the same now with my own DC.

SquashedFlyBiscuit · 25/02/2020 23:01

We need a screens off time otherwise mine would be like I naturally am an stay up far too late and overide sleepy signals and then be tired the next day....

Aderyn19 · 26/02/2020 09:40

DD is 12 and in bed/phone etc turned off by 10.30. This is later than I would like but she has always been a child who doesn't sleep easily and is a total night owl.
None of her school friends, bar one, seem to have proper bed times or phone cut off times, which means she thinks I am totally mean for having a 10.30 bedtime. But it seems much later than the majority.

flutterby31 · 26/02/2020 19:43

Nearly 10yo in bed 7.30, lights out at 8, up at 6.40.

HelloDulling · 26/02/2020 19:45

We are early nighters. 10 yr old (almost11) DS is is in bed by 7:30, asleep by 8.

Travelban · 08/03/2020 16:11

My 10 year old is in bed every night by 9pm.and get up at 6:30am. She does go to sleep quite quickly. Her 12 year old brother goes to bed at the same time. I would love her to go to sleep an hour earlier, but she won't settle if other people are roaming around.

sauvignonblancplz · 08/03/2020 16:24

@SquashedFlyBiscuit I’m similar to you & it’s reasonable as both are up very early.
Weekends it’s a lot more relaxed.

twinmummyplus5 · 12/03/2020 17:09

My daughter is 12 in April and she is in bed with everything off at 10pm

tiredanddangerous · 12/03/2020 17:12

10 year old in bed for 8.15/8.30, 12 year old goes up at 9 and reads for a bit.

JeanMichelBisquiat · 12/03/2020 17:21

Lark-tastic here; 11 year old (y7) asleep by about 7, 7.15 here, awake around 6, 6.15.

If she goes to bed later she wakes at the same time and is tired, so just have to go with it!
