Preteens

8 (almost 9 year old starting periods)

I have an almost 9 year old daughter and I’m pretty sure she’s been spotting.
She was last checked at the hospital in October (she has a congenital hypothyroidism) so I asked her nurse about the other changes to her body. They checked hormone levels etc, confirmed what I already knew (other body changes etc)

So, she does know about periods, we’ve talked about it, so she isn’t scared or worried.

But, does anyone know where I can get teeny period pants? She is very petite, still fits age 5 skirts etc. The only ones I can find seem to be from age 9. I would prefer the pants for her, just purely for ease and so she isn’t embarrassed at school changing pads etc.
Thanks 😊

Could you buy the age 9 and sew an inch in from the seams to make them smaller? Or is the crotch area too wide?

Modibodi teen range are called reds. Their extra small pair fit perfectly for my tiny skinny 9yo who fits into her 6 year old sister's shorts. My daughter will be 10 in May and periods are imminent so I've bought in advance. Also lillets do teen range pads which are thinner and narrower than normal.

@SayNoToCarrots I wouldn’t want to try - especially as they aren’t cheap but could definitely ask my mum.
@minesadecaf thank you so much! Will definitely have a look.

Hi. My daughter just turned 8 and is showing signs of puberty. She developed body odour last year just before turning 7 and now she just turned 8 and I've noticed v fine pubic hair, her linea line looks darker, hip bones look a bit wider. She has allergies to milk eggs and nuts so think her diet and immune issues may have played a part in change. She is small built. Only 118 cm and about 19.5 kgs. At her last check paed said monitor but since noticed more changes will take her back. Is your daughter taking and any treatment and is she also small. How has she coped with the changes. I have spoken to my daughter and she understands she may go through this way before friends. Just looking for someone who understands cos I am feeling down and stressed about it
