Tween wants to play out on the road

My husband and I disagree about how safe it is for our 12-year-old playing out on the road in front of our house on his scooter. He likes to jump on and off the curb and then crosses over the road a lot. We live on a cul-de-sac but we're halfway down, so cars do come up and down but not like they would on a busy road. I get the heeby-jeebies every time he does it, but hubby thinks it's safe as long as our boy is always looking out for cars.
Any thoughts?

12????/

Erm, yes! Let him out!!!!

Bunnybigears · 07/05/2019 22:09

12! I was thinking you were going to say 8 or something! Surely your 12 year old.does more dangerous things than that, like crossing busy roads by himself, getting the bus alone etc?

Let the lad be a 12 year old OP for Christ's sakes!

Good grief

milkysmum · 08/05/2019 07:51

Oh heck at 12!! Yes of course let him out. Mine both play out on the street on bikes/ scooters - they are 7 and 10. You need to teach them traffic safety and let the kid out to play!

Let him play out! Or are you planning on keeping him in until he’s 30?

MrsBungle · 08/05/2019 07:53

Crikey my 6 and 9 year olds play out on scooters on our cul de sac!

MummyBear2352 · 09/05/2019 21:18

I don’t see anything wrong with this. In fact I wouldn’t have had a problem with it if he was 5.
