I am sick to death of the 9pm fight every night with him when i take his phone/ipad. He shouts, sulks, fucks me right off EVERY NIGHT with it and i am so so fed up.
Tonight i told DH to take charge and went to bed at 9pm. I have just woken up and DS' light is still on and he is still on his phone! I'm bloody livid!
Any advice other than leave them both? Angry

We had this issue and also had to impose sanctions for making a fuss. We also put the handover time back by half an hour (for a week) if it wasn't ready to be handed over, so that we got the message over that we weren't going to go in and back for half the evening trying to get it.

I have these rules to and I'm so pleased to see that I'm not the only parent who imposes them rigidly. I'm going to save this thread and show them every time I am called the meanest mum in the world.

I do agree though that if you are firm, consistent and impose extra sanctions when a fuss is made about phone removal it does get easier as they eventually accept it.

No phones or devices in bedrooms, ever.
Device handed over at agreed time, at least an hour before bed.
No devices in the morning till fully ready to leave for school.
Screaming , yelling and refusal to had over device, no device for 24 hours.Offend three nights in a row, confiscate for a week.
Set screen times on weekends . e.g. no devices between 10-4.
If you DH can't hold the line, take modem to bed with you, or set up a parental control system that disconnects the tablet at a certain time. I think you can even program them to turn off completely too.

Good luck.

You can set iPads and iPhones so that they can't be used at certain times on "screen time" in the settings.
