I am thinking about getting my dd an iPad she's 11 but I hate her being stuck on games all the time! My brother seems to think iPads aren't great value for money! Any other suggestions which might be better? And also dd could use them for playing music?

I have seen iPads for £319 in Argos with 32 gb of storage I think!

Also do you know much about the google mini? Does it work the same as the bigger google speaker thing? Looking on here it seems everyone prefers the amazon dot!

Can I ask what's the difference between the dot and the bigger one is it Alexa?

Obviously I'm not so technical so I thought I would ask here :)

What technical things are you getting your 11 year old for xmas?

32gb of storage won’t be enough , with all the software installed it only leaves you with 15GB which definitely isn’t enough . Also I recommend the amazon Alexa rather than the google mini . The larger ones and mini ones both work the same

Kindle fire are better value for a child and work brilliantly with a echo dot (Alexa) - or there's other android tablets available even cheaper, the Tesco one of the best for the money. iPads are good but only you can decide if it's really an appropriate gift for an 11 year old - everyone's financial situation is different, but also should kids have such high end gifts so young? My 16 year old got a hand me down one earlier this year and wasn't sure about that.
