What do you do when your children are getting ready for bed?

I seem to have supervise them for a whole 2 hours, 2 DD aged 10 and 8. Remind them what needs to be done. Had to stand over my 10 year old today as she washed her hair.

Please be honest and tell me if this is normal or ridiculous?

Exactly like my house OP, my ds 10 is a lot worse that my ds 5. DD 10 needs to be constantly reminded of what to do in the bath, how to brush his teeth etc, it's the same I the morning getting ready for school, I have to be on his back constantly or he just lies around, it's tiring.

Not normal here. Mine are 10 and 13 but have been happily showering themselves unsupervised and going to bed unaided for years. I just say it's bed time and they go and get ready, read for a while, then lights out.
