Advice please - at the end of my tether with DS 10

My ds is 10 and yet has started behaving like a typical teenager.
He is rude, argumentative, defiant & frankly selfish.
There have been countless arguments this week & he has upset everyone on the family.
I've tried being nice, I've tried
being hard but nothing works. It's draining and at this rate it's not going to be a happy christmas!

It puts strain on my relationship with my dh as I am irritable & down about it. I haven't been feeling well, with a cold, am run down and exhausted and I feel like I just don't know how to handle this behaviour.
He has zero respect for us and it's making everyone unhappy.

Please can anyone help?

I could’ve written this myself. My DS is 11 and has been exactly the same this week. I’m also at the end of my tether and could actually sit and cry. I’ve just said goodnight to him and asked if he is unhappy about anything, he said he just wants nice stuff like his friends!!! He has ‘nice stuff’, he certainly isn’t spoiled but he has everything he needs and has all his ‘wants’ for birthdays etc. I am horrified at his behaviour and wondering if it stems from something else?! The same here. Ds 9 has spent the day telling me he's the only one who doesn't have a Nintendo DS and how mean I am, and the worst mum in the world.
I'm a single mum, work ft so we have a nice home and his new bike is hidden in the garage covered in curly streamers.
Right now I feel like sending him to live with his dad, and I know it's because I'm tired but it would be really nice if he would just understand that it doesn't grow on trees.
Sorry this is such a whinge, I just need to vent & I need to go to sleep.
