Dark coloured knickers search!

DD is 11 and started her period about 3mths ago. She seems to have quite heavy periods and often leaks. Whilst she's adjusting to having periods and getting used to managing them, it'd be really great if she could have dark navy / black knickers so that she's less self conscious and embarrassed by the leaks.
But I can't find any, anywhere! Have looked at Next online, and tried Primark and M and S and no luck.
Anyone else seen any, anywhere?

Primark adult size 6? They definitely do good black shorts style.

mudandmayhem01 · 01/02/2016 18:41

I got Dd some from H and M

NorfolkEnchantsToday · 01/02/2016 19:53

I have had loads of plain black cotton mini briefs from asda and primark, in the multi packs of 5. Super comfy for holding a sanitary pad in place too.

Some even look quite pretty and less Bridget Jonesy with a lace waist!

purplefizz26 · 01/02/2016 20:01

These, but packs of only black!

M&S are the best. I find the H&M ones too narrow of gusset for period days.

myrtleWilson · 01/02/2016 20:02

John Lewis stock the Diary Doll range especially for periods... I've not used but have thought about buying for DD who does worry about leakage... (She's only had one period but was very unlucky)

myrtleWilson · 01/02/2016 20:04

Sorry scarfegiraffe cross post!

BertieBotts · 01/02/2016 20:05

Oh hang on, is the problem that she's still in children's sizes?

I would try an adult size 6. I find pants are really small. I'm a size 10 in jeans, but have to wear size 14 pants or they are uncomfortable.

Other than that, you might find that dark pink or purple are better colours anyway - navy especially tend to bleach when they get blood stained.

Merrylegs · 01/02/2016 20:07

Diary doll pants, no question.

Rummikub · 01/02/2016 20:11

I've been doing this search too. And it's very difficult to find dark knickers in age 12 ish. As a last resort I tried the size 6 multi packs from primark, still too loose. Size 4 or 2 may just work, my dd is very slim.

Akire · 01/02/2016 20:15

If you can't find any you like just buy white and get a sachet of dye you don't even need salt these days just tip in washing machine. Lots of nice dark blues and purples if you don't fancy black.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 01/02/2016 20:30

These M&S ones seem to be in stock in both 9-11 and 12-14 sizes. You can order them into your local store for free.

Oxfordblue · 02/02/2016 22:53

I bought DD black knickers from M&S too.

AssembleTheMinions · 02/02/2016 23:34

My 12yr old wears Primark size 6 black shorts. £5 for 3 pairs. She's small for her age but they fit well and wash beautifully.

timelytess · 02/02/2016 23:39

have seen these recommended but have no personal experience of them. diary doll

JustDanceAddict · 04/02/2016 09:11

I bought black ones for DD from M&S - go down to size 6 online which should be fine for an 11 year old.

pinkcan · 04/02/2016 09:15

Yes, M&S adult multipacks, all in black. A size 6 is a really small pair of knickers and I'm sure would fit most 11yos (or actually be too small). I'm assuming your dd is at around 7+ stone of she's started her period so definitely ok for the small adult stuff.

DawnMumsnet · 04/02/2016 09:41

Have you tried Uniqlo? Best fitting knickers EVER! Grin

They do a women's XS size which I think would be fine for your DD. Not cheap at £5.60 a pair, but completely worth it.

This pic is the Hiphugger style - comes in black or navy. They also do a version without the lace edges, and a seamless one.

Here's the link. And yes, they do home delivery!

What a brilliant bunch you are! Thanks so much for all the tips. She doesn't like shorts style - prefers straightforward "pants" but I hadn't thought to look at adult size 6. That's a great idea Smile

primark packs in the womens section, dd has been wearing them since see was ten and got her periods. Cheap and well wearing, i think dd has a size 8-10 but they are dinky, as is she. hth

Rummikub · 13/02/2016 00:25

I took a trip to primark. But they only do 6-8 not just a 6.
I think my dd has no hips!

Diary doll ones are fab, bit pricey but worth it. They were on offer on their website.
