DD in complete denial about BO

DD (11) has terrible BO on some days, but steadfastly refuses to acknowledge it. She throws a complete fit however gently we try to tell her. We've tried using a 'code phrase' which she suggested ("when did you last have a shower?") rather than saying "I've noticed you have body odour today", and have avoided all references to 'stink' or 'pong' or anything that could be construed as insulting.

Today she absolutely honks but denies it. I've tried explaining that sometimes you can't smell your own body odour, but that it's very strong today and that it's better for her to wash and change her clothes. I've tried to tell her that other people WILL notice, and may talk behind her back about it if she does nothing about it. I've tried being gentle, forceful, buying lovely shower gel, getting her her choice of deodorant / anti-perspirant, reasoning with her - and she's now upstairs in floods shouting for me to go away.

What next?!

have you got one of those things like a bunch of gathered net? I don't know what they are called, they are often packaged with shower gel, and they make a good lather, better than a flannel.

Yes gathered net into a ball thing here works v well for my 11 year old. it does make shower gell lather. My DD has to be forced to shower daily it is exhausting moaning at her. Once in there she won't come out as singing her head off.

What about some Lush soap.
I have some bright blue soap with an unusual (but pleasant) smell which takes me back to childhood but can't quite place the smell.
But they have lovely stuff.

I had a smelly dd who got terribly upset talking about it. She wasn't washing properly. She also preferred aerosol deodorant. I had to get quite blunt in the end. She was anxious about growing up. She's quite olive skinned and had a very strong Bo smell.

I really wouldn't make the leap from being a bit stinky and in denial to schizophrenia Hmm

Does your skin colour affect your body smell? I am very pale english colouring and I never knew that.
