Where do you buy you yr6+ clothes from?

Dd is in 12 and though not overweight and my tendancy to shrink things we seem to have to buy age 13/14 clothes - if we can ever find any as the childrens shops/dept never seem to really go up to the size.

We seem to be stuck in the same shops without any real choice but then I look around at young girls out on the streets and they have lovely clothes on which I can never seem to find :(

Where do you buy your child's clothes from??

My DD2 is in Year 6 and is 11. She wears a lot of DD1's clothes and I think this is because I have tendency to buy more expensive and it lasts! She loves Johnnie B, Joules (although 11-12 is the biggest size though). I like Gap for jeans. The DDs also like Superdry, Hollister and Jack Wills, all good quality, lovely stuff but a tad expensive. It is hard to get clothes in that gap between 11-12 and going into ladies size 6/8. DD1 is able to get ladies clothes in 6/8 now but it is hard to find suitable things ie. not too grown up but not little girly either.

Sainsbury's, Next, M&S, Topshop. But really I need to dump principles & downshift to Primark to save money.

Mine is too small for a 6/8 yet, so it's tops from Animal, O'Neill & some Fat Face & Gap. The only jeans that seem to fit her come from H&M. We abandoned Next when she realised that most of their range looks cute on a 5 year old, not an 11 year old.

She also likes H&M, New Look, Primark and top shop.

When my DD was in Yr 6 she was tall and did not fit UK girls clothes at all. We were able to get her clothes in the USA that were age appropriate, these are more readily available in the UK now, Hollister, A&F, American Eagle, although they still have better sizes and styles in the USA.

Occasionally we shop in the cheaper UK stores like New Look but the quality is appalling.

Did you know next does bigger child sizes online?

mine are on residential this week and have been kitted out in stuff that I don't mind getting ruined from Primark.
Boden's teen range is good for smarter stuff. M and s do an "extra fit" size option for each size up to 16 which is good for school uniform for girls with hips before their time.
They have discovered labels though, and crave Hollister. In our house that's a "wait for your birthday" sort of treat.

Aww thank you ladies. Next do seem to look good on younger kids rather than older.

I was a bit reluctant with primark/H&M/new look due to the quality but also to be spending £20+ for a t-shirt from holister.

Think I'm going to have to revise my budget on how much gets spent on what with regards to clothing. I'm beginning to understand that daughter is nearing the same league as me and gone are the days when I could pick up a pair of jeans for £8!!!!!

My DD 11 likes choosing her own clothes. She buys them in New Look,H&M, Asda,D/P,Tammy,Primark,Top shop,Zara,TK Maxx. Online places like The Mountain, custom hoodies.

My DD won't wear anything from a sports shop/Hollister etc. and doesn't like jonny B/Next/M&S anymore.

I think a lot of the high street shops these days miss out the Tween age.
The clothes are either too young or too old.

Oh I forgot Gap!! DD spent a fortune at the outlet the other day!!

I agree the '5-12' ranges are no good for 11/12s who have hit puberty.

Definitely try New Look - their range is something like 10-18 & dd has found some nice stuff there.

Apart from that she still has Boden trousers (via ebay!) as they do seem to change the shape for bigger sizes, & then various surf type t-shirts / hoodies etc.

DD is 10y and has hit puberty well and truly. The kid's ranges don't fit properly any more.

We go to the US most years so can stock up on the branded ones at top of list, as same price in $ as it is in £ here.

Primary is fab for kids who will love something this week but will decide they can't possibly be seen in it next week! You do get what you pay for but for stuff they can run around in especially in the summer it's great. Ditto the supermarket clothes brands.

All the kids of that age that I know are mad for Holliarer, Gilly Hicks and Jack Wills

FedupofTurkey, BHS do trousers in their boys range that are long enough to fit a 12-year-old who is tall for his age. That means the prices are set at children's clothes levels rather then those for men's clothes. I have definitely noticed the difference between the two! Appreciate that if your son is "labels conscious" he may not want BHS, but the clothes themselves look fine.

Childrens clothes tend to stop at age 14 and then you are looking at womens clothes sizes 6,8,10 and so on. DD is 10 and in size 10 clothes because she is tall and stocky.

DD has a few Hollister t shirts, tops and a jacket.
Quality is fine ime. They all wash well and they are all wearing well too.
If compared to adult sized clothes in Next, Gap, etc I don't think it is much different in price tbh. Quality is certainly no worse than either of them, infact it is definitely better than Next where seams and buttons are forever coming away.
