Can anyone suggeste any magazines which are suitable for an 11/12 year old girl please? We keep looking in the local shops and they all seem to be suitable for up to nine years and then from 13 years onwards.

I agree that there is a gap in the market for this age group. DD is 12 and struggles to find something of interest. She quite like the Jaqueline Wilson magazine at the moment and Girl Talk Art.

My 12 year old has girl talk and let's make cards, she will try and read my heat and ok! Ok isn't too bad but heat can have some risky pics!
Plus it's mine!!! ;)

I remember the days of ours! Smash hits and look in, jackie!!

Have you looked at Jump Magazine?

It's by girls and for girls and it's "fluff-free and Bieberless".

Grin*

*Cannot tell a lie...I write for them.

Thanks for linking to Jump! Mag, Tee. :)

Flipside.

I was going to suggest Jump, too (and I don't write for them, just think it's a really good idea!)

a bit late to the thread... our 12 and 10 yr old get 'First news' which seems to have enough to keep a boy and a girl entertained. And in Morrison's last week I found a great 'crafts for girls' intro pack with lots of nice-but-not-too-tricky stuff in. Keeping it for a wet day this holiday...

I've started up a website that reviews books and magazines for 11+ children. I've found it really hard to find interesting and suitable magazines for the teen market. It was really interesting reading some of the suggestions here whivh i will look into. The website is www.booksteensandmagazines.com.

My DD is only 8 at the moment but she's a voracious reader, not very arty and hates all things pink and girly! So, I love the look of Jump, even though it may be a little old for her for another year or two.
Really hard to find things for boys too, unless they're into football.
I've seen Junior National Geographics around occasionally too, they look really good?

Branleuse · 11/04/2013 18:53

national geographic kids?

metimenowplease · 11/04/2013 18:54

When I was 11/12 it was Smash Hits! What a pity it's no longer around Hmm

flipside published by the IET is aimed at teens but suitable for 11/12 yr olds. My dd liked it then.
You cant buy it in shops only online.
