Hello. I will shortly be moving to Twickenham and would be very grateful for some advice as to pre-schools nurseries in the area. My daughter is 3.

Would anyone be able to give me feedback on the St Mary's Asquith Day Care pre school or the Sunflower Montessori nursery? I would welcome any other recommendation you may have.

She is bilingual french so if there are any french nurseries too I would love to know about them.

Many thanks

I know the headteacher at Sunflower- lovely lady.
Have friends who send their kids there all very happy.
They are quite strict there though wrt food, behaviour, expectations.

Went to look around Asquiths when it first opened- wasn't all that impressed with the answers to questions I asked but that was a few years ago so I wouldn't base anything on that.

Haven't heard of any bilingual nurseries although a boy my friend used to nanny for who was French/english bilingual used to go to a French/english school but that was once he turned 4 or 5 I think. I can try to find out more if you like.

I have seen ads around for French playgroups though so you should be able to find something to drop into.

If you need some recommendations on what playgroups there are I can let you know- my eldest is 3 in Sept so I can tell you the things she enjoys?

Hi there,

Girlsyearapart just how strict is Sunflower?
I have registered my DD to start there in Jan 10 and when I looked around I was impressed but left fearful of how strict they were!! (hmm)

I believe head is retiring and next down is stepping up!!!???

Many thanks for the advice. I very much appreciate it! St Mary's seems all free play whereby Sunflower seems 100% montessori.

My daughter is currently in a nursery which is half montessori and half free play (but we re moving out of the area). She loves it there and I like the idea that it is part structured / has an educational angle via the montessori teaching but is not too strict.

I have not seen any review from parents with children at St Mary's nursery but visited it and the teachers looked nice and the lay out whilst small seemed to encourage play and activities in a semi-structured way. It s not as focused on education as the one she currently is in but i was satisfied with what i saw and heard.

I haven't visited the sunflower one yet. But all the reviews i have read seem to indicate the same thing - children happy but strict so not for everyone. I too question how strict they are. It however seems like a good nursery.

St Mary is closer to where i m moving but want to go and see the sunflower one before i make a decision.

Thank you for the information on the french playgroup, It s encouraging to hear. I will research it.

Ps: My oldest (who i m searching the preschool for will also be turning 3 in sept)!

Thank you!
