I send my daughter to nursery and get the money off the fees, rather than send her to the local school nursery. You have to apply every term for the funding and I forgot this time! The deadline the council set was the 23rd last Friday. I have applied today via their website and wrote a bit of a begging e mail. Do you think they'll let me claim?

if not am missing out on £200 off nursery fees!

You should be able to put in a late claim - your nursery will be able to advise.

Isn't it the nursery who would have put in the claim to your local council for you? That's how it works here anyway. £200 seems a bit low too? Here it's more like £750 for 12 weeks of 15 hours per week.

I'm very surprised that the nursery didn't prompt you and fill in the necessary forms and Headcount - that seems really odd.

In our LA (this changes in September 2010) no late claims are allowed unless you fulfil Exceptional Circumstances ie. moved into area, loss of employment forcing move etc. If you miss the deadline, you miss the deadline. No funding is allowed after Headcount.

Have a word with your dc's nursery. It really does seem strange to me that they haven't prompted you.

No my nursery never do it - we have to apply every term via the council website. It's a real pain. The nursery don't remind us either.

I am going to ring this morning. Am only 4 working days outside of the deadline so fingers crossed!

It's around £200 per month I think - so would work out around the same.

Thanks for your replies.

Phew - just rang and they say deadline is only a guideline and it's an entitlement - so will get it. Relieved........

Thanks ladies.
