OK, this is a question for admin / committee geeks

I'm looking at the PLA 'Policies and Procedures for the Early Years Foundation Stage' book, it's got a picture of two little girls with teddy bears sitting on green stools on the front.

Does anyone know whether any of the sub-sections on Safeguarding include mention of policy regarding staff's use of social networking sites?

I'm on deadline and already facing a night of Red Bull & Maltesers just to get me through. If anyone knows the answer to this I will send you chocolate brownies in the post as a mark of my unending gratitude!

Hi - I am a pre-school committee geek (love the expression!). I have had a quick look at the PLA website and I don't think there are any references to use of social networking sites. Our pre-school had a pre-ofsted visit from a LA support worker (can't think of her her job title) and we went through policies & procedures in great detail but this wasn't mentioned.

You could always write your own (brief) policy on this - at least it would show it is something you have thought about. We wrote out a statement recently following the press coverage of the recent incident where photographs were taken with a mobile phone camera.

Just PM-ed you (I think...) - we have a policy around social networking sites if you e-mail me I can send it on if that would help.

Thanks, have replied to your PM 5ofus, which only just arrived in my inbox. Tsk, must take BigTech at MNHQ to task.

Lindy, thanks for whizzing through the PLA website for me, I'm starting to go snowblind with all this paper so a fresh pair of eyes is good!

OK looking out for it now...

Probably easier to extract it to here: This forms part of our "Mobile Phones and Photographs" policy.

There are lots of other bits but the main statement around Social networking is:

"No mention of xxxxxx Pre-school and the names of children at pre-school will be made by Early Years Practitioners on any social networking sites. Photos of the children will not be posted on social networking sites. "
