question on changing areas, funding etc

Hello, my situation is this. I have just split up with my sons dad, and moved to another area. Have applied for income support and sorted tax credits etc, about to go on housing lists and am temporarily staying with my parents.
My child has a place at a preschool where we used to live, and I have no been contacted to put in a funding form for the summer term. He hasn't been for 3 weeks as we've only just left, and things have been so upsetting and up in the air really, but I was hoping to take him back there after 1/2 term, at least for a couple of days a week, just so he'd have some stimulation, in familiar surroundings until I knew where we would be living and maybe find somehwere else.
So I think my question is, if I apply for funding at his current place, can I transfer it if I find another place when and if we move?
Sorry if I'm rambling a bit, it's been a mad few weeks, and I am a bit emotional over it all.

You would need to speak to your LA.

In our LA, no movement is allowed throughout the term unless you fulfil Exceptional Criteria. Your circumstances would most probably class as Exceptional Criteria in our Authority but may not in another.

Speak to them and see what they say. You can find their number through your local FIS (Family Information Service).

Another point to note is that you have now missed Headcount and therefore the pre-school your child was in, won't automatically receive funding for your child. Again, you/your preschool really need to speak to the funding administrators in your LA.

Good luck

Thanks for your reply.
I'm in Wales. I don't think things are as formal here, at least not in my sons preschool, although probably will be in any new settlement (moving from rural to city). I've sent back the forms anyway as the deadline is Friday, and I didn't want him to have no funding there, I don't know how long it'll be before we get a house. I've managed to stop myself getting so upset about it. It'll all work out. Was having a bad afternoon, but thankyou for your advice.

It will vary - here in Hants if your pre-school has got the funding and the child moves, Hants CC expect you to transfer the funding with the child.
