I have been chair of dd1 (soon to be dd2) preschool since last October and took over with a whole new commitee (helps the treasurer is my best mate in rl) we have a great committee now and have been doing lots of fundraising (we got £550 from christmas bazaar, £200 from easter bazaar today and £600 from 1 sponsored event although half of that to go to comic relief) but a great way to raise more is to ask parents if any of them work for a company that do matched fundraising. I work for Bradford & Bingley that are part of Abbey and I can claim up to £750 a year (for as many different chairites as I like) in matched fundraising so at Christmas I got a cheque for £500 from them.
Most large organisations do this and if your childs preschool is a charity then all they normally require is a letter from the school quoting charity number, amount raised and how they did it and Abbey sent the cheque to us within 10 days. It is so simple but not many people think about it (I had to do a bit of digging around on our internal website to find the information) but if 1 or 2 parents can do this then it really bumps the money up!
Hope that helps someone
