Earrings at preschool

Does anyone know if the staff are able to put plasters over earrings if children turn up in them? I haven't checked with PSLA yet but our staff seem to think so.
Thanks for any advice

Our staff don't do this.
Do you mean for PE?

We have a large multi-ethnic preschool where a number of families are newly arrived in the UK, several EAL children... a lot of these children come in wearing jewellery and to be honest, their earrings are the last thing we are concerned about. IME, different cultures have different approaches towards jewellery for children, and at this stage we think it's better to respect those families' choices and concentrate on integrating their children into preschool and helping them learn enough English to cope.

That's fair enough. But we're coming at it from a health and safety angle. If an earring gets caught on clothing whilst the children are running around outside and injures a child, parents would sue the pants off us. That's what we're trying to get at. There are some children who have their ears pierced and we're not sugesting they remove them, just cover them so they don't get ripped out.

Don't schools have a policy on earrings?

I would imagine the same policy as applies in schools tbh
That they do not wear jewellery (costume jewellery aside) or if they cannot remove earrings they cover them in plasters ??

This is what I thought, but I wanted to check it out. It's common sense really but some parents have more of that than others
