We are currently operating in our Village Hall which is a Victorian building not in the least bit suitable but the best there is in the village as an amenity which we can use. We can only have it on four mornings a week and there is no outside space at all for the children - lots of walks in the village, to the allotment, play ground etc.
I am in negotation with our local Council to lease some land and want to have a sort of "log cabin" building on it - one of the ones with a life of 60 yrs or so. This is the kind of building the Planners have said they will consider as the land is outside the village boundary line for development (although right next to the school and other houses) Has anyone done this sort of thing and have you any recommendations of companies?
Is it realistic to project manage it ourselves - we had an extension built a couple of yrs ago so I do have some idea of things which need to be sorted out. Some of the companies I have looked at do the whole project for you but this comes as a premium price which we won't have. I was thinking we could buy something off the shelf as it were and use local builders to put it up.
Are we mad?
