Pre school or nursery in Wales...anyone know what is best?

Hi, we live in a small welsh village. My ds is 3 on 28/7/06 and according to the Head of the local school can start going to pre school playgroup now for half days then can start going to pre school in September.

He is currently full time in nursery and loving it. I work full time which is why I am thinking about this now to plan the childcare required. The school is contemplating an after school club.

As he is so settled in nursery I am wondering whether I should wait a bit before sending him to pre school. Does he need to go to the pre school playgroup? He does seem very young and he will only just be 3 when he starts preschool.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

If you are working full time sending him to playgroup is going to be difficult. If it's the same as our village the playgroup is only two hours a day. However I do think preschool is different, in Wales this is the beginning of their education. They start with numbers and letters and so on, if you live in a Welsh speaking area or have chosen Welsh medium education this is when they learn a lot of their Welsh.

Thanks Cyrli,

Yes it is a Welsh language school. The preschool bit lasts til lunchtime so not too bad re child care. I am just wondering if I should wait a year before sending DS1.
