just found out that my local authority (unlike all surrounding) starts children at school at the term following their 5th birthday, dd birthday is in May so she will go straight into yr 1 in sept

(my friends dd 5 in dec so goes into reception in jan)

she is starting at preschool and i have to pay until she is 3, will i have to pay for a yr when she is 4?

should be free till they start school, whenever that is

meemar · 07/11/2008 16:40

free places are for all 3 and 4 year olds

It is until she has turned 5 but in practice most kids are at a state school before then.

littleducks · 07/11/2008 16:43

she will be 5 in the may but wont be a/CCEted into state school till the following sePt (into yr 1 no reception for her) so i may have to pay for a month till summer holidays start

Funding is up to and including the term in which they are 5. My ds is 5 next June and will have funding up to school year finish in July.

The vouchers only pay term-time only anyway (about 38 weeks a year)

Plus they are for only 12.5 hrs a week
