taken over this role. Newsletter every half term, usual boring/usual stuff and usually out of date by thte time most parents have received it.

I want to make it a bit more newsworthy and interesting for parents - any ideas?

ask parents what they want to read in the next newsletter.

quotes that the children have said

hana · 30/06/2008 19:38

no typos would be good

our preschool newsletter is atrocious

pointydog · 30/06/2008 19:48

include info about the children - quotes is agood one, also say what they have been up to, the little details

I changed our newsletter to make it a bit more inclusive and friendly by listing all the children who'd had birthdays that term - no surnames or dates, simply 'Happy Birthday to Tom, Dick & Harry who are now 4'. I also congratulated parents on new babies, staff for running Race4Life and that sort of thing.

Most of them still don't read it.

a monthly round up

Diary of things coming up in next term

Maybe a section for kids to comment on an event that's taken place

I also found I'd started writing the newsletter in MN style. ie. "Please bring a cake to our cake sale on Thursday 12th February. Chocolate cake is my favourite very popular with everyone".

It amused me anyway!
