My daughter started last week part-time at a local preschool (nursery class of a school). They don't use tapestry and we have received very little communication from them so far (and none of it is specific to our child). We have no clue what they are up to, but she does seem happy! I don't know what level of comms is normal to receive.
In the forms we deliberately did not give consent for her photo to be used online. Last Friday there was a photo of her on the front of the school newsletter (which is written by the head and put on the website). We emailed the head asking for it to be removed and expressing our disappointment. Today (Monday) her face in the photo was covered by an emoji, but we haven't received a reply to our email. Are we overreacting to feel a bit put-out about this? I am a teacher myself so know that data protection breaches can be taken quite seriously. To be honest we're not that fussed about the photo, but more bothered that our consent wasn't respected and we have not received an apology.
Our general vibe from the school (and the head in particular) is a bit slapdash and unprofessional, unfortunately this has compounded the vague feelings we already had. Should we move her to a different preschool before she gets too settled at this one, or should we stick with it because it's early days? I think there is a different school that we would prefer for reception, and they have a preschool with spaces (though not quite such ideal session availability for us). Is there a funding problem if you move after the term has started? Her sessions are covered by the 15 hours funding.
