Tablet / Technology usage

My child has never used a tablet. They've not yet started school. Is it usual for children using tablets / laptops / devices at school and if so, what age does it start?

I won't be introducing anything beforehand. If they are used in schools from an early age, should I be worried that they won't know how to use one? Computers weren't widely used in schools back when I started so I have no idea what to expect nowadays.

I would keep them off the tablet for as long as you can. You will give them an enormous head start in education if you are talking to them, reading to them, doing craft, drawing etc with them. If they know their letters and numbers and can use a pencil and felt tip pen when they start school they will be fully prepared. There is a reason that Apple employees do not let their children use tablets. All the research shows that tablets wire children’s brains differently and detrimentally.
